What does business coaching in Pretoria look like?
One-to-one work, fortnightly, ninety minutes at a time — by video, or in person in Pretoria by appointment. We coach across four areas — personal, leadership, business and financial — using one method: Performance on Purpose. The method is the same one we use in the UK. The conditions it is applied to are yours.
Power and infrastructure are a planning line, not an emergency.
Owners here stopped treating interruption as an exception a long time ago. What is worth doing in coaching is putting a real figure on what it costs you — diesel, lost hours, delayed delivery, staff standing about — and then choosing deliberately what to spend to remove it, rather than absorbing it quietly every month.
The rand sits directly on your margin.
Anything imported, and anything priced against an import, moves without asking your permission. That makes pricing discipline and the timing of large purchases a live part of the coaching, and it makes a business still running on last year's prices more fragile than it feels from the inside.
A wrong hire is expensive to unwind.
South African labour legislation means the cost of hiring badly tends to land later and land harder. That is an argument for slower, clearer hiring — defined roles, a probation period that means something, honest conversations early — not an argument for never hiring at all.
None of that changes what coaching is. It changes the inputs: the numbers we work on are yours, in your currency, under your conditions. The pattern underneath is the same one we see in Ballymena and in Manchester — the owner is the constraint, revenue has outgrown margin, and the work that would actually change things keeps sliding into next month.
Where do sessions happen?
Our South African base is in Pretoria, Gauteng, and the address is shared when you book rather than published. In-person sessions run there by appointment; clients in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban work by video, and the fee is the same either way. The UK and South Africa are only one to two hours apart depending on the season, so a session sits comfortably inside a normal working day at both ends — there is no early-start or late-night compromise built into this.
Buzz Accounting SA, our South African accountancy firm, is registered here and based in Pretoria too, which matters for one part of the work in particular: Financial Coaching goes much better when the coach can see the same figures your accountant is working from. You are under no obligation to use it. Everything starts with a free thirty-minute discovery call — message us on WhatsApp at +44 7457 428643 or email hello@buzzcoaching.co.uk.
Performance on Purpose, in short.
One method, two questions asked at once: are you performing — and is any of it in service of a purpose that still means something to you? Ask them at four levels: you, your leadership, your business and your finances. The honest answers place you on a simple quadrant. Drifting is low on both. The Treadmill is a business that performs while the reason for it has quietly gone. Unfulfilled Potential is a purpose you believe in and delivery that never arrives. Performance on Purpose is both together, and that is what the work aims at.
Every session re-scores where you are, so progress is measured rather than felt, and the destination is the three freedoms: financial, time and mind. Explore Performance on Purpose, or see how coaching works from the first call onwards.
Coaching across four areas of your business life.
Personal Coaching
How you think, decide and lead yourself. A demanding trading environment costs you energy before it costs you money — this is the work on clarity, resilience and the decisions you keep postponing.

Delegation, accountability and getting results through others — building a management layer that keeps the business moving on the days you are not standing in it.

Strategy, pricing, profit and systems — pricing that holds while the rand moves, and an operation robust enough to keep trading on the days conditions do not cooperate.

Is the coaching different for a South African business?
The method is identical; the inputs are not. Performance on Purpose, the four coaching areas and the three freedoms work the same way in Gauteng as they do in Antrim, but the variables underneath them are yours: power as a standing line in the cost base rather than an incident, rand movement on anything imported, labour legislation that makes a wrong hire expensive to unwind, and a cash cycle built to survive customers who pay late as a matter of habit. A coach who has never had to put generator diesel into an operations conversation will hand you advice that does not survive Tuesday morning. The questions are the same everywhere. The arithmetic under them is local.
Can I work with Buzz Coaching from outside Pretoria?
Yes. Sessions run by video, so Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban are no harder to serve than Gauteng, and clients close enough to reach Pretoria can meet in person by appointment. The practical constraint is not distance, it is power and connectivity. Book sessions around your schedule rather than hoping, keep a phone number as the agreed fallback, and settle at the outset what happens if a call drops halfway through — a session that finishes on the phone is far better than one rearranged into next month. The fee does not change with your location, and neither does the rhythm: fortnightly, ninety minutes, reviewed properly at ninety days.
How does this fit with Buzz Accounting SA?
Buzz Accounting SA is our South African accountancy firm, a registered South African company based in Pretoria, and Financial Coaching here is delivered alongside it. The reason is practical rather than commercial: coaching someone on their numbers works far better when the coach and the accountant are looking at the same figures, prepared the same way, on the same timetable. Using it is not a condition of coaching. Plenty of clients coach with us and keep the accountant they already trust, and we would far rather that than have you move firms to tick a box. Coaching and compliance are separate purchases and you should be able to buy either one on its own.
What will you not help with in South Africa?
Anything that needs a South African specialist rather than a coach. B-BBEE scorecard strategy, SARS technical questions, CCMA process and live labour disputes all sit outside what coaching should touch, and a coach improvising on them would cost you far more than the fee saved. The same goes for anything carrying legal exposure. What coaching does is help you decide what you want to happen, rehearse the difficult conversation, and hold you to the date you said you would have it by — then the technical work goes to someone qualified to do it. If getting it wrong creates a liability rather than a bad quarter, it is not a coaching question.
